The Vegas Showbirds on the fifteenth day of the trip, and the third day of the trip home. Wednesday, June 27th - The Vegas Showbirds depart Evansville, Indiana,
where weather is still overcast, but the ceiling is lifting and the forcast calls for
intermittent thunderstorms.
We take off from Indiana and head west, stopping for fuel in Joplin, Missouri
and
end the day in Elk
City, Oklahoma.

After taking off from Evansville, Indiana, we fly over the
mighty Mississippi River. There are some very large barges
on the river, which is wide and quite muddy.
A haze layer persists throughout most of the day enroute.
It's hot . . . steamy hot . . . humidity is at 120% (almost).

We land at Joplin Airport, in Joplin, Missouri.
It is very humid and overcast.
The airport is setting up for an air show with the
Blue Angels. There was much activity at this airport.
The temperature has dropped a bit, from steamy to sultry.

After fueling and checking weather at Joplin, we continue
west toward home. In Oklahoma, we encounter low ceilings
and rain. Several ominous cells loom close around us,
but we don't see any thunderstorm activity (no lightening!).
We shoot for Amarillo Texas, but can't seem to get through
the line of weather, we circle around to try and navigate
around the cells.

We land at Elk City Municipal Airport, in Elk City, Oklahoma. It is rainy and low ceilings prevail, as we look for a hotel to stay the night.
Local weather calls for continued thunderstorms
but we have hope that the storm will subside in
the morning, fingers crossed.
